Review : Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers

Hello everyone,

I have a confession to make.  I am feeling like I have a slight obsession with pink lips.

I have never been a fan of pink before, I am a red girl through and through and so I am surprising myself more and more recently with my make-up picks.  Perhaps it is the nice(r) weather we have been seeing in England recently but I am find myself liking a lighter, brighter make-up look.

If you follow me on Instagram (link here if you currently don't but want to) then you will have seen I had a little splurge recently and whilst having a little stock up on some new items, I was browsing the Rimmel section (which I do find myself in very often) and I saw these two little beauties.

I must admit I have never found myself drawn to the Apocalips lip lacquers in the past because I just have found that most of the shades are either too pink or too bright.  Perhaps I have been burying my head in the sand far too long but I just happened to see these two lovely neutral(ish) colours which I have never spotted before.  I knew I had to have them.

On the left 301 Galaxy (plumb shade) and on the right is 101 Celestrial (dark pink shade)

These two shades look quite similar from the packaging but one is a plumby colour and the other is a dark pink.

First off, let me start by saying I adore the colour of both of these.  These shades I find I can easily wear throughout the day as they are both subtle, not too in your face, not too bright and natural enough but still gives a splash of colour to your lips.  'Celestrial' has made its way into my handbag and I would say is my favourite out of the two colours and I do tend to find myself wearing this shade most days.

These are the other way round from the photographer above, sorry.

The formula is between a gloss and a lipstick; this trend seems be coming out a lot with various brands at the moment and I do I love this combination as you get the best of both worlds.

Unlike a lipstick they have a nice shine but a creamy texture which does not dry on the lips.  And unlike a lipgloss they are not sticky, they just leave your lips feeling hydrated and the staying power is much better than a lip gloss.

I like to apply this before leaving for work in the morning and it can survive the journey but it doesn't have as much strength as the Bourjois Velvet Lipsticks (link here if you want to read my full review) but they are definitely along the same lines formula wise.  I personally find that if I am going to work, I actually do not want my lipstick to stay in place the whole time because it can be a bit dramatic for the office walking around with red lipstick all day long!  Having said that, these have a nice fade on them and don't leave you with a chalky colour collecting at the corners of your lips (you know what I mean I am sure).

These are by far one of my most favourite and most used purchases recently and they will definitely be getting replaced once empty.  I may even branch out and get a nice red.

Here is a still from a video where I am wearing 'Celestrial'
